Oklahoma Burgers in the Press: 2026

The last time we rounded up our press was 2023, back when we were one stall in a Mississauga food hall and the write-ups were coming from local Mississauga bloggers. Since then we have opened three stores in downtown Toronto and the coverage has grown with us. Here is where Oklahoma Burgers has turned up recently.

blogTO: “Ontario burger joint started as a food court stall and now it’s taking over Toronto”

blogTO’s March 2026 profile is the fullest telling of our story anyone has published. It traces the whole arc: a test concept at Kingsbridge Food Hall in 2022, founded by Sameer Vahidy after twenty years in hospitality, through to four locations across Toronto and the GTA in four years.

The detail we like most is the one about volume. We started out going through about three pounds of beef a day. Within two months that was closer to three hundred pounds a month.

blogTO: “Two viral burger chains are about to open at the same Toronto intersection”

Our Spadina store opened on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, and blogTO covered it alongside the fact that a rival smash burger shop was opening across the same intersection in the same week. We wrote more about that opening in our own post on Queen and Spadina.

WhatNow Toronto: “Oklahoma Burgers Planning More Downtown Sites”

WhatNow Toronto reported in April 2026 on what comes next: two to three more downtown Toronto stores before we look at the suburbs. That is the plan, and we have written up the thinking behind it in What’s Next.

Streets of Toronto

Streets of Toronto has included us in its burger coverage as the downtown stores have opened. Their long-running essential burgers list is one of the reference points people actually use when they are deciding where to eat in this city, so being in that conversation matters to us.

Tasty Burgers: four stars

The earliest serious review we got was from Tasty Burgers in October 2022, four stars, written when we were still only in Mississauga and almost nobody in Toronto had heard of an Oklahoma onion burger. Worth reading if you want a sense of what the burger tasted like before any of the rest of this happened.

The 2023 roundup

For completeness, our first press post is still up: Recent Coverage from Mississauga Restaurant Bloggers, covering Visit Mississauga, The Exploring Family and Restaurant Guru.

If you have written about us and we have missed you, we would genuinely like to know. And if you have not tried the burger yet, all four locations are on the home page.
